W pierwszym kwartale 2024 roku, Cloudflare odnotowało alarmujący wzrost ataków DDoS, odrzucając rekordowe 4,5 miliona prób naruszenia bezpieczeństwa swoich sieci. Raport firmy ujawnia szczególnie niepokojące zwiększenie się liczby ataków opartych na DNS, co stanowi nowe wyzwania dla globalnej infrastruktury cyfrowej.

W ostatnich miesiącach sektor cyberbezpieczeństwa zaobserwował znaczący wzrost liczby ataków DDoS, które stanowią poważne zagrożenie dla infrastruktury internetowej na całym świecie. Firma Cloudflare opublikowała 17. edycję swojego kwartalnego raportu o zagrożeniach DDoS, przedstawiając kluczowe ustalenia dotyczące najnowszych trendów i wyzwań w tej dziedzinie.

Według najnowszego raportu Cloudflare, w pierwszym kwartale 2024 roku firma zanotowała imponujący wzrost liczby ataków DDoS o 50% w porównaniu do poprzedniego roku, co świadczy o rosnącej skali i złożoności cyberzagrożeń. Firma odparła około 4,5 miliona takich ataków, co stanowi 32% wszystkich ataków DDoS ograniczonych przez Cloudflare w 2023 roku.

Raport zwraca uwagę na znaczący wzrost ataków opartych na DNS, które wzrosły o 80% rok do roku. Te ataki stanowią teraz 54% wszystkich ataków DDoS, co podkreśla ich rosnącą popularność wśród cyberprzestępców. W odpowiedzi na te wyzwania, Cloudflare wprowadził nowy system ochrony DNS, mający na celu lepsze radzenie sobie z zaawansowanymi atakami opartymi na tej technologii.

Struktura ataków

Pomimo wzrostu ataków DNS, proporcje różnych typów ataków DDoS utrzymują się na podobnym poziomie jak w poprzednim kwartale 2023 roku. Ataki HTTP DDoS stanowią 37% ogółu, ataki DNS 33%, a pozostałe 30% to ataki warstwy L3/4, takie jak SYN Flood i UDP Floods.

Największy atak – Mirai-botnet

Najbardziej znaczącym wydarzeniem kwartalnym była obrona przed atakiem botnetu Mirai, który osiągnął szczytową przepustowość 2 Tbps. Atak ten był skierowany przeciwko azjatyckiemu dostawcy hostingu i został skutecznie ograniczony przez systemy Cloudflare, co podkreśla skuteczność ich rozwiązań w zakresie Magic Transit.
