Amerykańskie władze ogłosiły przeznaczenie 2,1 miliona dolarów na finansowanie innowacyjnych badań nad technologią druku 3D, w ramach nowego programu America Makes 2024, mającego na celu przyspieszenie rozwoju i wdrożenia nowoczesnych rozwiązań w tej dziedzinie.

Biuro Podsekretarza Obrony USA ogłosiło przyznanie 2,1 miliona dolarów na wsparcie najnowszej inicjatywy America Makes 2024, mającej na celu przyspieszenie rozwoju technologii druku 3D. Projekt, skierowany zarówno na potrzeby obronne, jak i komercyjne, stawia na innowacje w dziedzinie produkcji addytywnej.

Rozpoczynając otwarte wezwanie do zgłoszeń, OSD (R&E) zobowiązało się do finansowania projektów koncentrujących się na pięciu kluczowych obszarach technologii AM. Znane jako „swimlanes”, obejmują one projektowanie, materiały, procesy, genom AM oraz łańcuch wartości. Dodatkowo, szósty obszar skupia się na zrównoważonych praktykach i produktach, w tym na projektowaniu i selekcji materiałów.

Propozycje projektowe mają na celu demonstrację wartości technologii AM poprzez rozwój w wymienionych obszarach, z naciskiem na innowacyjność, wydajność i zrównoważony rozwój. Wśród głównych punktów zainteresowania znajdują się m.in. zwiększona złożoność części AM, kalibracja czujników, oraz rozwój niskokosztowej produkcji aluminium.

Ostateczne propozycje należy składać do 16 sierpnia 2024 roku, a wybrane projekty będą oceniane pod kątem technicznej wykonalności i potencjalnego wpływu na przemysł. Dr. Brandon Ribic, dyrektor ds. technologii, podkreślił znaczenie projektów zrównoważonych, wskazując na ich potencjał do poprawy efektywności produkcji i ograniczenia kosztów cyklu życia, co przyczynia się do korzyści zarówno dla przemysłu, jak i środowiska.
